Daily, there are many, many things that try to entice away our attentions. Some
of those things are good, and some of those things can take our eyes off of
more important things at hand, but every day, the media, our jobs, our friends,
the phone, our computers, etc. all vie for our constant visual and mental
devotion. Unfortunately for married persons, any of these things can also take
our eyes off of the most important person in our lives, and cause them to feel
less significant to us.
As a result, the news reports are dismal and dark
regarding the success of marriages, but with proper attention, we can keep thelight on in our marriages , keeping them lively and fulfilling, no matter the
distractions around us. There is a couples' exercise that I have both
participated in, and led, in many marriage workshops. It's a pretty simple
exercise in concept, but very difficult to carry out. This exercise illustrates
the problem of our attentions in a very tangible way. Grab a timer and your
partner and try this one. Set the timer for one minute, and then without any
talking at all, look into your marriage partner's eyes for one minute. No
talking! Keep your attention focused on your spouse for the full minute, but
don't comment, don't chat, and try not to giggle. It's not as easy as it might
seem. The reason for this is that we have much shorter attention spans than we
would like to admit, and focusing on another person is just not easy. We'd
rather think about ourselves. However, keeping our attentions on our spouse is
actually one of the most important marriage tools that we can use to find joy
and fulfillment. When we "spotlight" our spouse and their interests,
we are giving them one of the most precious gifts we can give - our time. Time
is one of the only things that we can never replenish, so when we give it to
another person that says something of their importance to us. In a marriage,
your spouse wants to, and should be, the most significant attention-getter in
your life. Conceptually, we can all agree with this, but practical application
is not easy. We must be willing to seek their opinions first. That means before
we consult our friends or other family members. We must be willing to seek our
spouse's welfare first. That means before we seek the welfare of our children,
or our coworkers. We must be focused on shining the light on their talents and
not our own.
We must be interested in their passions, their challenges, their
hobbies, their needs, their wants, their "time," and in all of the
things that make them tick. A funny thing happens to the one who holds the
flashlight, and that principle applies here, too. The light, shining on our
spouse, will illuminate their strengths and show off the best of who they are.
That is good for us to see, and good for us to do for them. But the holder ofthe flashlight , if you will, has the opportunity to direct the light. By
focusing on the character of our spouse that we want to highlight and
emphasize, and by giving them our time and attention, we reinforce those things
that drew us to them in the first place, making that "light" brighter
and encouraging them to stay "in the light" while illuminating the
path for others with the radiant light. The flip side of this is also true. If
we try to turn the flashlight on ourselves for any length of time, we find that
not only do we develop a crick in our wrists due to the unnatural angle, but
everything around us becomes dark, unclear, and vague, and we are likely to
stumble. So, where are your attentions pointed in your marriage? To what you
need and want, or to what your spouse needs and wants? Do others routinely get
your attentions before your spouse does? These are not one-time questions. They
need to be continually asked throughout the marriage to keep that beam of light
shining out for others to benefit and grow from, not the least of which is your
own spouse! Photo rejuvenation is a term that can be broadly applied to the
three basic forms of light therapy. Each treatment, although different can be
used for skin care aesthetic procedures. These very specific forms of light can
bring about significant positive results in a person's skin and his appearance.
However, it is important to know how these treatments and their various forms
work as they could have adverse side effects. The most aggressive form known is
laser resurfacing and don't kid yourself, it is a surgical procedure and it
requires significant down time and recovery. This procedure uses a laser that
causes water molecules to vaporize outside and inside of cells, causing thermal
damage to the surrounding tissue. The body's response to this
"attack" is to produces more collagen and elastin, two vital proteins
needed for youthful skin. However, laser resurfacing is the most effective skin
care procedure in severely damaged and aged skin but it also has the most
potential side effects. Some of the benefits include the removal of deep
wrinkles, age spots, sun spots, freckles, superficial blood vessels, tighter
and more youthful skin.
The overall result is dramatic as the youthful
appearance of the person is undeniable. Side effects include significant
swelling, flaking, dry or itchy skin, over or under pigmentation, redness and
the recovery time could be up to a couple of months. Normal cases can, after
receiving treatments, expect their downtime to be about a week, during which
you will appear red and burnt looking. Intense Pulse Light or IPL: Intense
Pulse Light or IPL is a gentler form of laser resurfacing but not considered ablative,
meaning to melt or vaporize the top layer of skin. Although not as aggressive
as laser, it is still in my opinion an invasive procedure as it causing thermal
damage to the skin. This will force the skin's healing mechanism to kick in and
reverse signs of damage. IPL is a procedure that resurfaces the skin in a
series of treatments over the affected area. A cooling gel is applied before
the procedure is begun in order to make the experience as painless as possible.
The feeling is similar to a small rubber band snapping on the surface of the
skin. In some cases a topical anesthetic is applied for people with a low pain
threshold. A series of sessions, three to six, is recommended for best results.
And it is best to treat the entire face rather than a specific area. This will
yield a more even and pleasing aesthetic result. Treatment can be given as
frequently as every three weeks. Intense Pulse Light works well on pigment
irregularities, like dark spots and redness in lighter complexions, therefore achieving
a more uniform color, fresher look, loss of sallowness and even an increase in
firmness can be expected. In addition it treats rosacea, sun damage and even
acne scars. People with Shadowhawk X800 reviews dark skin should be warned that hyper-pigmentation is a
high risk not only with IPL but also laser treatments. Immediately after
treatment the client can expect that the skin may appear flushed, like a mild
sunburn, and might persist for 2-3 hours after treatment. Brown pigmented spots
may appear darker, and capillaries may be more visible. In rare instances,
temporary swelling and/or blistering can occur.
The treated area can take up to
10 days to heal and can turn brown or crust. Therefore do not rub, pick, or use
any kind of exfoliation until it heals. After laser or IPL the client should
avoid direct sunlight and wear sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher while you're
healing. Further protect yourself by wearing wide-brimmed hats if you expect to
be out in sun. LED or LIGHT EMITTING DIODE: Light Emitting Diode is an
electronic device that generates light when an electrical current is passed
through it. http://www.optimalnutritions.com/shadowhawk-x800
